The Doernbecher Freestyle was founded five years ago when Nike designer Marcus Tayui had a vision to have the patients design sneakers to benefit the hospital that saved their lives. Now that will make you feel good about dropping some cash on a pair of kicks. And just for kicks (too easy…), here’s one for your wallet. And your soul. Too much? Well, these shoes are available at Niketown nationwide and I wear a size 8.5. I’m not usually a fan of pink or anything of the fur persuasion, but its for a good cause.

There are very few times that a child will make it onto my blog. And by very few I mean never. And not just because it would be offender registration kind of creepy. But because kids scare me. This is one of those times I must break my own rules and make an exception. Isabelle Redford is that exception. She is ABC News’ Person of the Week and I have to say, she does kind of make me want to start a slow clap. At the ripe ole age of 7, she’s already raised over $10,000 through The Global Orphan Project to build two orphanages in Haiti. At 5 she decided that she would draw cards to raise money for the orphans around the world. I’m pretty sure my biggest feat at 5 was getting a hair bead stuck in my nostril and having to go to the ER. So even though this Isabelle girl is creepily wise beyond her years, she’s kind of a beast. While most of us are worried about cars and clothes and sneakers…Isabelle just wants to build an orphanage on every continent of the world. Here comes the slow clap.

Watch her interview with ABC News here. You may want to grab some tissues. And then buy me a card.

Check out the video on The Global Orphan Project too! I think it has way more potential for growth then those infomercials with the old guy that makes you feel like Satan’s baby for not giving 38 cents a day. My friends, it’s time to brainstorm.
